Shipping zones - Edition
DocumentationTab-ShippingZones-Creation-Help
A shipping zone corresponds to a geographical area for which one or several modes of transportation will be proposed and for which shipping fees must be calculated. A shipping zone can correspond to a region smaller than a state, to a state or several states, to a country, or to a region larger than a country. WebStore is designed so that the delivery zones of your carriers can be easily set up.
Configuring a shipping zone :
- DO define a code/name for the shipping zone.
- DO choose at least one continent, country and region.
- The regular expression zone is only useful when you want to restrict the shipping zone to zip code ranges.
- DO you must choose an inclusive or exclusive rule. This specifies if the geographic zone that you have defined is included or excluded in the shipping zone.
- DO click on the + icon to save these rules.
- DO If needed, define other geographic zones that are assigned to your shipping zone.
- DO If you only want the geographic zone to apply to certain catalogs, assign one or more catalogs to this specific zone.
- The geographic zone will be available for all catalogs if you do not assign any catalogs to a certain zone.
Shipping zones specifically define regions. To help you understand and configure these shipping zones, here are two examples :
Example 1 : A country and its excluded regions
1 - Create a filter that includes North America as the continent, USA as the country, and the “Include” rule. This shows that the geographic zone includes the United States.
2 - Create a second filter that includes North America as the continent, USA as the country, the region of Alaska, and the “Exclude” rule. This shows that the geographic zone does not include Alaska.
3 - Create a third filter that includes North America as the continent, USA as the country, the region of Hawaii, and the “Exclude” rule. This shows that the geographic zone does not include Hawaii.
4 - If this geographic zone applies to all catalogs, it is not necessary to assign catalogs.
We have defined a geographic zone that includes all of the United States except for Alaska and Hawaii.Example 2 : Shipping zone including several countries
1 - Choose a code (ex : BE-DE-NL).
2 - Create a filter that includes Europe as the continent, Belgium as the country, and the “Include” rule. This shows that the geographic zone includes Belgium.
3 - Create another filter that includes Europe as the continent, Germany as the country, and the “Include” rule. This shows that the geographic zone includes Germany.
4 - Create a filter that includes Europe as the continent, the Netherlands as the country, and the “Include” rule. This shows that the geographic zone includes the Netherlands.
5 - If this geographic zone applies to all catalogs, it is not necessary to assign catalogs.
We have defined a geographic zone that includes Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. How to ? Configure filters :
When you configure a shipping zone, WebStore allows you to apply filters to specify the exact zone of where you want your products to be delivered.
The location :
- You have the choice between three locations: Continents, Countries, or Region/Province/State. You can set your shipping zone for an entire continent (like Europe and Asia), an entire country (like France, Germany, etc.), or for a region/province/state (like Corsica or overseas territories).
Regular Expression :
- Allows you to specify the filter and to specify postal codes.
Rule :
- Used in order to include or exclude a region in a shipping zone. How to ? Define regular expressions to filter zip codes :
When establishing a shipping zone, you can include regular expressions in your configuration. This enables you to specify filters in terms of zip codes.
For example, you can target zip codes within a region starting with “606xx,” which corresponds to the city of Chicago.
The regular expression would be the following : ^606([0-9]{2})$
For more information on the syntax of regular expressions, consult specialized sites like:- When installing WebStore, there are many choices for Continents, Countries, and Regions/Provinces/States. If you would like to modify or add any of these elements, go to “Administration>Continents/Countries/Regions.”
- If you do not assign a catalog to a shipping zone, all your catalogs will be available by default via the default shipping zone. If you intend to have your products be available internationally, it is advised that you do not assign catalogs to a particular shipping zone.
- Magelia Insider info : We use “Geoname” to manage all Continents/Countries/Regions on WebStore.
