Catalogs - General data
DocumentationTab-Catalogs-GeneralData-Help
A catalog groups products on an e-commerce website. A catalog is defined by start and end date, tax calculation rules, multiple currencies in which products can be sold, and shipping zones. This screen also allows you to manage the settings of currencies and shipping zones within a catalog.
- If you prefer to create only one catalog, which is the case for most vendors, simply modify the catalog by choosing the default preference (if you installed the catalog at the same time as installing Magelia WebStore).
- DO When preparing a catalog, make sure to deselect the “Active” setting so that the catalog will not be displayed online. Once the catalog is finished and ready to publish, select the “Is Active” setting and be sure to save it.
- DO Be careful when choosing the product price settings concerning taxes included or taxes excluded. If you select taxes excluded, taxes will be calculated and added to the amount in order to establish the total price at check-out. If you choose taxes included, taxes will be deducted from the inclusive price in order to calculate the price before taxes. (For example, a tax-included price might be $60. So, calculating tax at check-out would be $50 for the product plus $10 for taxes).
- DO Be sure to include a product name as well as a long and short description in all the languages that you wish to be available on your website.
- DO Assign currencies to a catalog so that the product prices can be defined in each chosen currency.
- DO NOT It isn’t necessary to choose a shipping zone if the products of a catalog are available everywhere. By not defining a shipping zone, your products will be available in every zone.
